Our business and your instruction
1st Aid Fire Limited, company number 07586711, 150 Darland Avenue, Gillingham, Kent ME7 3AS. Contact darren.young@1staidfire.com or 0808 123 2401. These terms apply to new instructions accepted from 13 October 2026. They do not retrospectively change an existing contract. Your written quotation identifies the service, premises, deliverables, exclusions, price, payment arrangements and expected dates. Any specific variation must be agreed in writing. Mandatory legal rights take priority over these terms.
Quotes, bookings and payment
An enquiry, portal application or uploaded report does not book work. For portal review orders and memberships, the contract takes effect when successful payment is confirmed for the accepted offer. For other services, the written booking confirmation identifies when the instruction is accepted. Online checkout clearly states whether payment is one-off or recurring. No VAT is currently added. We confirm separately charged expenses or additional work before you authorise them; we do not add optional extras without agreement.
Professional care and assessment scope
We perform the agreed service with reasonable care and skill. An FRA concerns the premises, information and conditions within the agreed inspection scope at the assessment date. It is not a guarantee that a fire cannot occur, a warranty of future compliance or an exhaustive survey of concealed construction. Inspection limitations, inaccessible areas and any need for further investigation are recorded. Intrusive opening-up, specialist testing, building design and engineering calculations are included only if specifically commissioned.
Information, access and responsibilities
Provide accurate premises details, relevant records, known hazards and authorised safe access. Tell us about changes, restrictions and urgent risks. We identify where information cannot be verified and request further evidence when needed. The client remains responsible for managing the premises, arranging necessary measures and responding to significant findings; professional advice does not transfer statutory responsibilities to us. We remain responsible for the care and skill of our own work. Do not defer urgent action while waiting for a quotation or review.
Reports and permitted use
You may retain, reproduce and share the completed report for managing the specified premises, with owners, occupiers, managing agents, competent contractors, insurers and relevant authorities where appropriate. Preserve the report as a whole and identify its version and limitations. Do not alter it, claim it covers other premises or publish another person’s confidential information. Our reusable methods and templates remain our intellectual property. Third-party reliance beyond the agreed purpose requires our written agreement, without excluding any rights a person has by law.
Changes, delays and cancellation
We agree changes to scope, charges and dates before additional work. If essential evidence or access is missing, we explain the effect and agree revised arrangements. Tell us promptly if a visit must be changed. Any rescheduling or late-cancellation cost must be agreed and reflect reasonably incurred losses or work, taking account of costs saved; no automatic blanket forfeiture applies. If we cannot deliver, we discuss a revised date or cancellation and refund for services not supplied, without limiting your legal remedies. See the cancellation policy for the 14-day right and early-start arrangements.
Works, contractors and estimates
A budget range is an indicative estimate based on stated assumptions, not a fixed works quotation. Works are commissioned under a separately agreed scope, price and contractor arrangement. We explain whether we are undertaking work ourselves, acting as your adviser or introducing an independent contractor, and disclose any relevant commercial benefit. Nothing here removes responsibility for services we contract to provide.
Liability and legal rights
We accept responsibility for loss arising from our failure to use reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law and the agreed service. We do not exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything the law does not permit us to exclude. Consumer statutory rights remain intact. These terms contain no blanket exclusion of negligence and no arbitrary monetary liability cap. The effect of any information or inspection limitation depends on the circumstances and does not excuse careless work.
Complaints and disputes
Send complaints to darren.young@1staidfire.com, including the premises, order reference and outcome sought. We aim to acknowledge within five working days and provide a substantive response within twenty working days, explaining any delay. These aims do not restrict urgent complaints or statutory deadlines. Where a consumer dispute remains unresolved we provide any alternative-dispute-resolution information required by law; we do not claim membership of an ADR scheme. English law applies, subject to mandatory protections for consumers. Consumers may use the courts available to them under applicable law; no exclusive jurisdiction clause removes that right.
