What is new?

The August 2026 revision of Making your holiday caravan park accommodation safe from fire provides tailored industry guidance for holiday caravans on commercially operated parks. It was prepared for the Resort Leisure Safety Group. It is not new legislation, government-endorsed guidance or an Article 50 publication.

Holiday caravan or permanent home?

The guide concerns holiday accommodation that is let to guests. It excludes touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. Caravans used permanently as private dwellings are outside its scope. Do not apply its holiday-let recommendations automatically to every residential park home.

A unit assessment does not cover the whole park

The guide separates caravan accommodation from park-wide fire safety matters. Operators and owners need coordinated responsibilities. A generic assessment may cover similar units under the same management, but needs adequate individual checking records. Review is typically annual and also when changes or incidents call the assessment into question.

Our practical starting point

Before asking for a quote, tell us how the accommodation is used. “Caravan park” alone does not explain whether the site contains holiday rentals, privately occupied homes or a mixture.

This helps us agree a useful inspection scope and avoids paying for a report that leaves responsibilities unclear. If you manage several units, a simple property register can make missing records and outstanding actions much easier to identify.

Need help deciding what applies?

Send a description of the park and the accommodation use. We can discuss the assessment scope and where specialist input may be needed. A permanent residential park and a holiday letting business should not receive an identical off-the-shelf answer.

Make the next step clear.
