Manual Handling
This course is designed to enable the successful candidate to conduct Manual Handling training courses. It will provide candidates with a sound knowledge of training techniques and the practical skills necessary for delivering effective training in the workplace.
The course comprises the following subject areas:
• Legislation and Risk Assessment:
What is required?
• Correct Body Mechanics and Practical Techniques:
Defining basic physical actions in manual handling.
• Anatomy and Injury:
Identifying factors that create the problems in manual handling.
• The outcome of poor manual handling:
Acute injuries and chronic health problems that can occur from poor manual handling.
• Task analysis for the operative:

Load
Environment
• Team Lifting.
• Looking after your back.
• Structuring and delivering the training.
• Assessing your trainees. Practical and theoretical.
The course is conducted over 2 days and comprises the following:
• Theoretical training covering the subject areas stated above.
• Practical training in relation to moving and handling.
• Students will also deliver a minimum of one practical and one theory session during the course. This will be assessed, and feedback will be given.
